laptop as head unit???

Hi.

I am about to install my laptop as a head unit in my car.

I want to know what quality can I expect from my laptop built in sound card and the possibilities I have in upgrades.

My laptop is IBM Centrino T41.

I already tryed to connect it to the amplifier and hear the sound. Let's say it seems it goes poor when I rise the volume to high level....

What is quality of USB/PCMCIA sound cards that can be installed?

Will it give an average-good quality when connected to amplifier(hifonics 6400xz)?

What is the average price for such sound card is and what type will feet my needs best?

 

Any feedback of someone that has already tried something like this or tried connecting laptop to another non-car sound system will be welcome.

 

 

Please don't complain about the comfort of using a laptop(it's more comfortable then any player if you really know how to configure it).

What I hear is a noise comming from the twiters when volume level is high.

I never heared such a noise with anything else.... So I think I will need to replace the sound card.

Anyway I will soon visit someone that can realize what kind of nise it is. Maybe amplifier should be reconfigured or something....

תשמע אם אתה שומע רעש מהטוויטרים זה לא אומר שהכרטיס קול לא איכותי,יכול ליהיות שהטוויטרים שלך מעפנים.

 

 

האם זה הטוויטרים שעל כול קניה של מסטיק בזוקה אתה מקבל אותם?

I have morel dotech 6 components and the noise comes from it's original twiters.

I don't think my twiters are "maafan". Maybe if you buy 1 container of gum you get them .

The amplifier is Hifonics zeus 6400zx 4x85RMS or 2x350RMS when bridged.(suports only 4ohm)

My hardware is not high end stereo system but it's not cheap so I don't think there should be any noise becouse of it.

I am in doubt that ibm laptop can give the same sound quality level as the stuff I connect it to.

אתה מוזמן להוריד PLUGINS אשר לא עושים את כל הפיצרים של וינאמפ ובזה חסכת את העיוותים שהוינאמפ מוסיף.

 

דרך אגב, אם אתה מעוניין אני מכפרסבא - אתה יכול לקפוץ אני יכול לבדוק עם סקופ האם הכרטיס של המחשב שלך "טוב מספיק" בשביל לעמוד עם כל פאנל אחר.

 

זאתי העינות של הכרטיס קול הפנימי של המחשב שלי, מספיק שטוח לטעמך ?

ראיתי כבר פאנלים אשר היו עם העינות פחות שטוחה ממנו ...

I will try that experiment you told me with volume of amplifier and sound card.

I am just waiting for a friend of my that can help me with the amplifier adjustment(I am complete dumb in this). I will tell you what we got.

I am using xmms, http://www.xmms.org player to play music. My OS is Linux so I can't use winamp. XMMS is VERY similar to winamp though and i already have it controlled by ifrared remote control so it's my choice.

לא תמיד מה שמצוי הוא הרצוי.

ישנה אפשרות שהתוכנה אשר יוצרת "שליטת הגברה" בעצם גורמת לעיוותי לוואי.

 

זה רק ניחוש - אבל הניסוי שתעשה די יענה על השאלה ... בכל אופן אם הכרטיס הפשוט של המחשב שלי עושה את העבודה נאמנה.. אין סיבה ששלך לא יעשה, רק כיול כמו שצריך ותוכנה שלא תגרע מהאות שלך..
