Audi A3 Strange Engine RPM

Hi.

I have bought an audi a3 4 days ago and I have a very strange engine behavior.

When I switch the engine on, it's rpm is jumping between 0.5RPM~1.2RPM.

It is nothing critical but it should not be that way.

The other thing, is for example I drive at 3th gear, then drop to nutral and start braking then it appears again. RPM start to jump at the same range...

What may it be? Should I rise engine RPM?

Vehicle specs:

audi a3 1.8 turbo

1998

at a buying check at "mahon elisha" they said that engine is in perfect condition.

I have a check report with some data on it, if you tell me what exactly may help you tell me I will type it here (or maybe scan the document)

Hi, the problem is very simple.

AFM - AIR FLOW METTER

or by pass valve.

but mostley in the 1.8T its the sensor afm.

try to clean it or go to the garage.

A friend of my (a mechanic known as gsi16v in the forum), checked the car and did not find the problem. If you say you may give me a free diagnostics I will of course accept your offer with pleasure and ofcourse pay you for the repair/cleaning needed to fix this.

It is my first good car(after two daewoos so I want it to run as smoothly as possible.
