BMW 3 Help Me Please

I wanted to ask the Israelis owning BMW Series 320-318-325 year 2002-2003 , with a run 100.000km and more , how expensive to buy and maintain such a car is not so few years

 

 

l want to know your feedback in general

the mainteance on the 3 series is very expansive,the electronic system,like sensors,coil.climate control,inner fan,ac compressor,windows motors,are all bound to fail in a 8-9 years old 3 series,and the parts are seriously expansive.

plus,not every owner service there car as well as they should.

and if so,the follow up owner is paying the price.

the 3 series is a great drivers car,but it costs,and you should take it under considuration.

we havent got in to the buying part,which is very very diffuclt to find a good conditioned one.

As far as I know, the insurance rates for Bimmers in Israel is relatively expensive.

I would start from checking on the expected insurance rates.

BMW 3, in 2002-2003 model also called "E46",

the weakness are the cooling system , front wishbones and cracked rear subframe that common with the strong big 6 motor

the 4 cylinder motor are fine, also with the 118 BHP, but i recommended to get 6 pack

the parts here are very expensive, personally? i get everything from the US

I can say that I've read answers Russian users of this series BMW and a lot of problems with electronics in general, but I wonder what they all say about that in the cold -40 this machine always start with no problem . say it consumes a lot of oil and it is very important to pour into it a good oil

 

 

 

 

?what would you recommend I look for when buying this model with the range 130-180 thousand kilometers

Maybe this car is a little more expensive to maintain compared to other family cars, but it is certainly worth it with the built quality and driving enjoyment. Insurance should not be a problem if you are more than 24 years old and have a clear history.

The problems begin when people cut corners or go to garages without expertise with BMW. To cut costs it is always the best, like Eli said, to get the parts yourself, preferably from abroad and not to buy them from the official importer.

You might dismiss my advise as being not objective, as my (well maintained) car of 4.5 years is for sale. It is a model 2000 318i with 136000 kms. If interested, write a PM.

?What do you think about AUDI A4 2002-2004 when compared with BMW

The A4 b6 is nice alternative,it has versions with great engines (such as 1.8T) and lots of features, and should be cheaper to buy and maintain then the 3 series.insurance rates definitely should be lower.

on the down side: most models are fwd (just the ones with the 3.0L are quattro i think),therefore its not as fun to drive as the 3's with the larger engines.

most b6's have a CVT gearbox (multitronic) which is not very reliable, and very costly to fix if malfunctions
