TIming Belt Replacement Ferrari 355 Berlinetta

In Accordance with manufacturer specifications the belts needed replacement. OE equipment is Dayco by the way.

Some workshops drop the fuel tank in order to access the belts with the engine in situ, but I opted to drop the subframe as it makes life much easier. At the same time I also removed the power steering rack at the front and sent that out for refurbishment. It is not a pleasant job pulling out that rack. one of the coolant radiators (the L/H ) was leaking so that was replaced too, and at the same time a full set of coolant hoses was fitted)

 

At the same time I replaced all the engine and G.box mountings as they were all worn out. and a full service, inc Air con recharge (something the brits dont know too much about...)

 

Last thing I had the car go through a 4 wheel alignment check and adjustment as the steering rack had been out. (same guy who did the DB9 did this one too see the DB9 alignment thread for details) and of course a short test drive, well perhaps not that short , this thing is pretty quick, and revs to 9K very readily. nothing

sounds quite like it. these machines they are legend. for me they look right. nice and low and small, you feel like you are sitting in a pod. the famous open gate is magical and precise. Very good for a 20 yr old car

Great post!

The 355 is one of my favorite Ferrari models and very affordable, well, enough affordable to purchase but from what I understand from few friends who own (or used to own) one I learn those 355 are a bitch to maintain with expensive parts which need a replacement too often.

whats your experience about it?

I guess they are more expensive to maintain properly than a golf GTI. They also drink a lot of petrol. My experience with this kind of car is that it may b affordable to purchase but thats it. the running costs stay up there with the original buying price. I always advise people - if the running cost will be a problem. its best to look at owning something else

fuel consumption isnt a big issue- my car runs a tuned supercharged 5.5L V8......actually a 355 can save me a lot of money on fuel.

i live in HK and over here theres many UK imported cars, however, many people dont like to purchase those UK cars because of rust issues at the car floor etc'.

is that a real big issue with UK cars?

 

im asking as my car is in fact a UK import and at 11 years old nowdays my car floor is clean and rust-free (but- my car arrive HK when it was about 2.5 years old).

In UK cars suffer from salt corrosion to the chassis and suspension components. Unless the owner chosses the most expensive carwash option that includes a chassis wash from the underside (few people do) .

Your car escaped this by only suffering 1 or two UK winters. It also depends how bad the winter was for instance this winter was mild and the gritters were hardly out so roads were mostly salt free. The year before was a bad winter and the roads were salty for about 7 months.

Most exotic cars are used usually during the summer months and therefore this usually does not apply to them. the Porsches are an exception as they are used daily by their owners all year round

 

Each person has their own experience with a car and draws conclusions from it. For me the prancing horse carries a sense of occasion that other marques dont have. If this appeals to an owner it makes all the repair bills easier to swallow. Its a question of how much are you prepared to pay for the prancing horse experience. I think a lot depends on wether a particular example is well looked after. a neglected car or one run on a tight budget is a car to stay away from

זה היה בגששית (דקה 0:30), אין לי בעיה עם 57mm, לא לכולם יש גם 355 וגם מקלדת עברית,

אבל זה פורום ישראלי ומקובל לפחות לענות בעברית,

פרוקסימה )הבא בצ׳כית?(התנצלתי רבות על כך שבמחשב אין לי עברית וכישורי הלו טק שלי הם כאלו שלימוד עברית את המחשב מסתים באי הצלחות. בטלפון חתיכת זכוכית שיש לי הצלחתי לבסוף להתקין מקלדת ואני מתפאר בכך חדשות לבקרים ומתמלא בתקווה שיש סיכוי גם לי להשתלב בעולם הזה.

איש לא נפגע עד היום מהכתיבה באנגלית. נושא השפה הוא רגיש ואין צורך להסביר למה. אשתדל מעתה להעלות תמונות בלבד מהמחשב ולכתוב דרך הזכוכית הקטנה למרות שזה דורש יותר מחיקות בגלל שהזכוכית קטנה ומתאימה לידים של בנותיי הקטנות.

בינינו - מה זה משנה לך באיזו שפה הוא כותב ? לעינייננו - הרי סה"כ זו אנגלית, לא שפה שרובנו לא מכירים.

אם יש כבר נושא מיוחד, וכותב מישהו ישראלי, שגר ופועל בחו"ל, למה להרוס ? למה שלא ישתף אותנו לפעמים (גם באנגלית) בדברים הנדירים שעוברים דרכו ?

כי העברית יקרה לי

ולגבי 57mm אני מבין ומקבל את הקשיים הלוגיסטיים בכתיבת עברית (חוץ מזה שהוא לא העלה תמונות, זה כבר בלתי נסלח)

אבל אני לא מבין למה לענות באנגלית ??

הרי ברור שהוא ישראלי ומבין היטב עברית, אחרת הוא לא היה כותב פה, אז מה כל השופוני הזה ?
