I had to perform a trivial task today - wheels off and car up on axle stands. nothing special. except the car was special.

 

This DB3S was driven by some of the most famous racing drivers in the world during the mid 50's. Carol Shelby, Reg Parnell, Roy Salvadori just to name a few.

 

It was driven on major tracks in Europe and America.

 

As I hit those spinners with the Hide side of the mallet I couldn't help but thinking about all those mechanics taking wheels off this very car in pits and paddocks at Sebring, Goodwood, Lemans, and more.

 

It was a simple job but a very special one for me.

 

Of course this car received many changes over the years but somehow the aluminium ducting to the front brakes seems battered as it was in period.
