For day to day driving just use your brakes.

It is a lot cheaper to replace a few pads than a motor

 

Advanced "agressive" sports driving is something else, using heavy breaking & downshifts together and for different reasons

 

It does seem as if I am NOT getting through here. Even when an "advanced" driver is driving "aggressively" he only downshifts at the END of the braking, just before turning in. Not during, AFTER the heavy braking is done with. By no means does a race driver uses the gears to slow the car down. On the track that's an absolute no no.

I was just trying to answer Feints original question that started this thread, and that is to just use your brakes for everyday use, abs is great for stopping your car in an emergency & brake pads are easily & cheaply replaced

 

I would also advise going to a driving lesson like Alternativi and learn what your car does when you brake hard

OK. I see, and I second your recommendation for an Advanced Driving Course (with Alternativy or with someone else).

 

I get quite puzzled when people who obviously lack basic knowledge try their luck with giving advices, which are, at best, based on educated guesses. They don't seen to understand that somebody may take that advice on.

כדי למנוע את בלימת המנוע בהורדת הילוך, מספיק לתת גז ביניים, אין צורך ב"דאבל קלאץ'"

"דאבל קלאץ'" אינו עוזר למנוע את בלימת המנוע, הוא עוזר להקטין את הבלאי בהורדת הילוך.

כן, אבל למה לעשות דאבל קלאץ' כאתה יכול לתת גז ביניים בלי להוציא את הקלאץ' באמצע?

יש שם ת'רד שלם על זה

אבל לשימוש היום יומי אין ממש הבדל בין שתי השיטות

כעיקרון השתמשו בדאבל קלאצ' במשאיות שלא היה בהם סינכרוניזציה בין ההילוכים
