תחנות הטלויזיה משדרות ללא הפסקה את סירטוני ההסברה הישראלים שבהם רואים בבירור את משתתפי המשט כשהם תוקפים את חיילי צה"ל (כמובן הכל מלווה בכתוביות באנגלית) כך שכנראה למרות הכל, ההסברה הישראלית כן עובדת.

 

יש כמובן עוד המון מה לשפר אבל זו התחלה.

 

"במשבצת הקטנה שלי" אני פשוט כתבתי הודעה באנגלית בפייסבוק על כך שאני גאה בצה"ל שעצר את "משט הסיוע" הפרובקטיבי בצורה כל כך הומנית- אף צבא בעולם לא ישלח כוח קומנדו למשימה חמושים ברובי צבע.

פעילי שלום אמיתיים לא יישאו נשקים כמו אלו שנמצאו על הספינה.

בנוסף העלתי גם את אחד הסירטונים שבהם רואים את הפעילים תוקפים את חיילי צה"ל תחת הכותרת "האמת מאחורי משט הסיוע- האם אלה פעילי השלום?"

 

מי שמעוניין להגיב, ואני מתכוון בהחלט לביקורת ש"טובה ליהודים" מוזמן להוסיף אותי ברשימת הפייסבוק שלו (ואני מתכוון לכך בשיא הרצינות, לא מעניין אותי תגובות סטייל "יכול להיות שיכולנו לעשות את זה אחרת").

Behind the Headlines:

The Seizure of the Gaza Flotilla

 

Overnight (30-31 May), Israeli naval personnel boarded a flotilla of six vessels attempting to violate the maritime blockage on Gaza. Militants onboard the Mavi Marmara attacked Israeli naval personnel with live fire and light weaponry including guns, knives and clubs. Numerous Israeli soldiers were injured as a result of the extremely violent ambush, two of them seriously while three are in moderate condition. The final number of militant fatalities has yet to be released, but initial reports place it at nine. Those vessels that reacted peacefully to the operation were escorted unharmed to Israel, as had happened with previous vessels that tried to violate the maritime blockade.

 

Although this is still an ongoing event, several facts are already clear:

 

The intent of the militants was violent, the methods they employed were violent, and unfortunately, the result was violent.

 

The attack on the Israeli soldiers was premeditated. The weapons used had been prepared in advance. Huwaida Arraf, a flotilla organizer, foreshadowed the violence with her statement that: “They [the Israelis] are going to have to forcefully stop us." Bulent Yildirim, the leader of the IHH, one of the primary organizers of the flotilla, announced just prior to boarding: “we are going to resist and resistance will win.” The militants whipped up the boarding crowd by chanting “Intifada, intifada, intifada!"

 

It should be noted that the Turkish organizing group, IHH, has a radical anti-Western orientation. Alongside its legitimate humanitarian activities, it supports radical Islamic networks such as Hamas, and at least in the past has supported global jihad elements, such as al-Qaeda.

 

Israel was justified under international law in acting against the flotilla. A state of armed conflict exists between Israel and the Hamas regime that controls Gaza. Hamas has launched 10,000 rockets against Israeli civilians. At present, it is engaged in smuggling arms and military supplies into Gaza, by land and sea, in order to fortify its positions and continue its attacks.

 

Under international law, Israel has the right to protect the lives of its civilians from Hamas attacks. Consequently, it has undertaken measures to defend itself, including the imposition of a maritime blockade to curb Hamas rearmament. Israel cannot allow a sea-corridor to open to Gaza, a corridor which would allow weapons and terrorists to freely enter the Strip.

 

The flotilla organizers made clear that their primary goal was to target the maritime blockage. Greta Berlin, a flotilla spokesperson, told AFT news-agency on 27 May that “this mission is not about delivering humanitarian supplies, it's about breaking Israel's siege." This fact is demonstrated not only by their words, but by their actions. Flotilla organizers turned down repeated Israeli offers to land the vessels in the Israeli port of Ashdod, and to transfer their aid through the existing land crossings, in accordance with established procedures.

 

Moreover, while the organizers claim to have humanitarian concern for the residents of Gaza they did not have similar concerns for the fate of the abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, and when asked, refused to make a public call to allow him to be visited in Gaza by the Red Cross.

 

The organizers were aware that their actions were illegal. Under international maritime law, when a maritime blockade is in effect, no vessels – either civilian or enemy - can enter the blockaded area. In line with Israel's obligations under international law, the ships participating in the protest flotilla were warned time and again that a maritime blockade is in effect off the coast of Gaza.

 

When it became clear that the protest flotilla intended to violate the blockade despite the repeated warnings, Israeli naval personnel boarded the vessels of the flotilla, and redirected them to Ashdod. Due to the desire to avoid casualties and operational needs, including the large number of vessels participating in the flotilla, it was necessary to undertake measures to enforce the blockade a certain distance from the area of the blockade.

 

The soldiers who boarded the vessels did not carry arms openly, but were met with a violent ambush. Two soldiers were shot, one was stabbed and others were injured as they were set upon with clubs, knives, axes and heavy objects. They were in mortal danger and had to act accordingly in self-defense.

 

In Ashdod, the flotilla's cargo will be off-loaded and the humanitarian items will be transferred overland to Gaza in accordance with standard operating procedures. The participants of the flotilla who need assistance are being treated in Israeli medical facilities. The rest will be subjected to immigration procedures applicable in cases of attempted illegal entry.

 

The Gaza Flotilla and the Maritime Blockade of Gaza

Legal Background – 31 May 2010

 

1. A maritime blockade is in effect off the coast of Gaza. Such blockade has been imposed, as Israel is currently in a state of armed conflict with the Hamas regime that controls Gaza, which has repeatedly bombed civilian targets in Israel with weapons that have been smuggled into Gaza via the sea.

 

2. Maritime blockades are a legitimate and recognized measure under international law that may be implemented as part of an armed conflict at sea.

 

3. A blockade may be imposed at sea, including in international waters, so long as it does not bar access to the ports and coasts of neutral States.

 

4. The naval manuals of several western countries, including the US and England recognize the maritime blockade as an effective naval measure and set forth the various criteria that make a blockade valid, including the requirement of give due notice of the existence of the blockade.

 

5. In this vein, it should be noted that Israel publicized the existence of the blockade and the precise coordinates of such by means of the accepted international professional maritime channels. Israel also provided appropriate notification to the affected governments and to the organizers of the Gaza protest flotilla. Moreover, in real time, the ships participating in the protest flotilla were warned repeatedly that a maritime blockade is in effect.

 

6. Here, it should be noted that under customary law, knowledge of the blockade may be presumed once a blockade has been declared and appropriate notification has been granted, as above.

 

7. Under international maritime law, when a maritime blockade is in effect, no boats can enter the blockaded area. That includes both civilian and enemy vessels.

 

8. A State may take action to enforce a blockade. Any vessel that violates or attempts to violate a maritime blockade may be captured or even attacked under international law. The US Commander's Handbook on the Law of Naval Operations sets forth that a vessel is considered to be in attempt to breach a blockade from the time the vessel leaves its port with the intention of evading the blockade.

 

9. Here we should note that the protesters indicated their clear intention to violate the blockade by means of written and oral statements. Moreover, the route of these vessels indicated their clear intention to violate the blockade in violation of international law.

 

10. Given the protesters explicit intention to violate the naval blockade, Israel exercised its right under international law to enforce the blockade. It should be noted that prior to undertaking enforcement measures, explicit warnings were relayed directly to the captains of the vessels, expressing Israel's intent to exercise its right to enforce the blockade.

 

11. Israel had attempted to take control of the vessels participating in the flotilla by peaceful means and in an orderly fashion in order to enforce the blockade. Given the large number of vessels participating in the flotilla, an operational decision was made to undertake measures to enforce the blockade a certain distance from the area of the blockade.

 

12. Israeli personnel attempting to enforce the blockade were met with violence by the protesters and acted in self defense to fend off such attacks.

נגעת פה בנקודה חשובה.

 

בימים האחרונים קיבלתי כמה הזמנות לקבוצות בסגנון "מחרימים את טורקיה", "שמים X על טורקיה" וכד', שלדעתי ממש לא מוסיפות לנו כבוד. יש לי קולגות וידידים טורקיים, וברור לי שמה שאנו רואים בטלוויזיה משקף את המצב בערך כמו שאלג'זירה משקפת את המציאות הישראלית. אין לי כח להתחיל להסביר את זה לאנשים, אבל קצת מוזר לי לראות את הישראלים נתפסים כ"כ מהר לגימיקים האלה ומצטרפים לאותן קבוצות מבלי להבין באמת באיזו הצהרה הם יוצאים. גם זה פוגע מאד ביחסים שלנו, ולא רק עם טורקיה.

 

לכל מדינה יש את הפוליטיקאים שלה ואת הפלגים הקיצוניים שלה, שלא בהכרח מייצגים את העם. כדאי שנתחיל לקחת את הדברים בפרופורציה, ואת מה שמספרת התקשורת בערבון מוגבל. עם כל הכבוד לצה"ל.

וואדים, אני לא רואה שום בעייה בכך שאנשים פרטיים כן ינקטו יוזמה בצורה מכובדת (ומה שכתבתי לדוגמא זה מספיק מכובד וממש לא "לוחמני").

 

אין מה לקחת את התקשורת בערבון מוגבל, זה לא מצב שבו יונית לוי מספרת לך את הסיפור כמו שמתחשק לה, יש לפעולה הזאת סרטים שמראים בצורה חד משמעית מה בדיוק הלך שם.

 

לסיום אומר לך שחברי הטובים ביותר הם ממוצא תורכי, יש להם משפחות שעדיין חיות בתורכיה וחברי ילדות שעדיין חיים בתורכיה.

 

גם דעתם היא שהתורכים שתומכים במשט הזה יכולים ללכת לה***ן.

אני לא מבין, אנחנו חייבים למישהו הסברים ? מישהו זוכר מחאות נגד והתקוממויות נגד ממשלת רוסיה בעת "ביקורה" בצ'צ'ניה או מלחמת הפאר נגד גרוזיה? מספיק עם הפחד מההד התקשורתי ומה חושבים עלינו, תבינו שלנו יש ערכים שונים ואנחנו מזדהים עם מה שקורה אצלנו במדינה ואנחנו חיים את המציאות הזאתי יום יום ויודעים להבדיל באין עיקר לטפל, לעומתם שצפייה בחדשות וקריאות גנאי נגד ישראל היא חלק מטרנד אופנתי חדש..

 

אגב, כל הכבוד לליברמן על דבריו הנ"ל:

ליברמן שוחח עם מזכ"ל האו"ם: הקהילה הבינלאומית צבועה

שר החוץ, אביגדור ליברמן, שוחח עם מזכ"ל האו"ם, באן קי-מון, בעקבות החלטת מועצת הביטחון ואמר לו כי יש להצטער על הצביעות ועל המוסר הכפול שמשתרשים בקהילה הבינלאומית בכל הנוגע לישראל.

 

השר ליברמן ציין בפני המזכ"ל באן כי רק בחודש האחרון נהרגו כ- 500 אנשים בתקריות שונות בתאילנד, באפגניסטן, בפקיסטן, בעיראק ובהודו והקהילה הבינלאומית שמרה על שקט ואדישות ועברה על כך לסדר היום בעוד שישראל זוכה לגינוי על פעולה הגנתית מובהקת שהיא נקטה. השר ליברמן אמר עוד כי לאור כל זאת ההחלטה איננה מקובלת.

הבעיה שלי היא עם קבוצות בסגנון שהזכרתי, המשמיצות ציבור שלם עקב התנהגות של חלק קטן ממנו, ומציגות אותנו כברברים מחרחרי ריב.

לשר ליברמן יש ביצים של שור ומוח של ציפור, לעיתים זה מוציא אותנו קטנים, לעיתים אני פשוט מחזיק ממנו תותח על כי הוא לא סופר אף אחד ממטר.

 

במקרה זה- יישר כוח.

 

הלוואי וקריאות גנאי נגד ישראל היו טרנד חדש, פעם אמרתי שלצערי זה לא חדש, היום כבר זה לא מזיז לי, התרגלתי לכך שבין אם אנחנו צודקים ובין אם לא כל העולם ואישתו יגנו אותנו, כולל האו"ם שככל שעובר הזמן מתגלה כפרו-ערבי פעם אחר פעם, זו הסיבה שכבר שנים שישראל או מתעלמת במופגן מהחלטות האו"ם או שמתעלמת באלגנטיות מהחלטותיו.

כיוצא של יחידה אחרת של חיל הים, יש לי פתרון טיפה יותר רועש, אבל עושה אחלה של זיקוקים.

אני לא מבין איך ישראל נותנת לבעלי חיים כמו זועבי וטיבי להיות חברי כנסת(מבקש סליחה שאני מעליב בעלי חיים). זה לא מדינה דמוקרטית, זה כבר מעבר לזה. הם מדברים כמו מחבלים ועוד נותנים להם במה ומשכורת ענקית
