Ofer, are you talking about old Tatras (1950s)? There are of course US made ATC Tatras in IDF service today. I think the Tatras which were captured (shalal) in 1967, 1973 and 1982 were used - like the ZILs and the Kraz trucks - for a short time until the IDF ran out of spare parts. I have a feeling some of my uncle's T111s came from the Police, which probably got them from the IDF simply because they were using Magirus-Deutz trucks also, so were used to air-cooled engines, but I can't be sure... This must have been one of the best ever races and certainly Mike Crabtree's best career result. He was fighting two very good drivers. Years ago I met Gerry Marshall (he was driving a Corvette I was working on) - he was a legend in England, must have done 600 races in his career, did not stop racing until his last day and a nice chap as well.
