Sorry about the English, but a friend of mine here (Austria) may be interested in selling his, has 135,000Km (nothing for these), injected 2.8, automatic, ABS, air condition, magnezium wheels and more - it's 1981 model, so you may have to wait one year before importing. Vehicle in very good condition, let me know if it's interesting for you. No, I am not getting any commission:-), I am just passing the information on. Best regards, T PS: These cars are some of the most reliable vehicles ever produced by Mercedes, so if you service them properly, they do 400,000Km between overalls

Same from me, nice to see one of these being saved - good luck with the restoration, T

Ofer, are you talking about old Tatras (1950s)? There are of course US made ATC Tatras in IDF service today. I think the Tatras which were captured (shalal) in 1967, 1973 and 1982 were used - like the ZILs and the Kraz trucks - for a short time until the IDF ran out of spare parts. I have a feeling some of my uncle's T111s came from the Police, which probably got them from the IDF simply because they were using Magirus-Deutz trucks also, so were used to air-cooled engines, but I can't be sure... About the Autocar, the chap is Udi Amir, Israel and Rony know him, don't think he's a forum member. As for the idiotic rule about over 12T GVW, I'd better not say anything, it gives me high blood pressure Sorry about the English. T

That was my uncle's old T148 which he sold to that collector - was in Pardes Hanna a couple of years back, no idea about the situation now... Don't know whether he'd sell but it's a possibility, he was prepared to consider selling a Steyr tractor he had, T PS: In case anyone mentions the T111s, they were scrapped years ago

There is less work in saving the Leylands (both) This is terminal rust, from experience... Sorry, T

Dodge 400s saved, but by whom? T http://www.carsforum.co.il/vb/showthread.php?t=317518

To save length - in the past, they had strict max. length in the US. Same engines, only below the floor... T

First, sorry about the English. Second, you mentioned trucks - this is the greatest tragedy in the field of historic vehicle preservation in Israel. It's not only that you cannot import any vehicle over 4T GVW, it's that if a truck - I mean a truck with more than 12T GVW registered in Israel from new - has not had a test at least once in two years, it can never ever return to the road. NEVER. Does not matter if it has been restored to better than new and will not be used to carry load commercially or otherwise. Just think about the Macks, Leylands, Autocars, Volvos etc. etc. which could have been saved. This, Ladies and Gentlemen, is simply absurd, heartless and also means that historic treasures - beacuse that is what some of these trucks are, used as they were for building this country - have been destroyed for no good reason other than stupid regulation and lost forever. Sad. T

From experience, Eli is right, rust is the bigger problem. By the way, some more here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=464426 T

This must have been one of the best ever races and certainly Mike Crabtree's best career result. He was fighting two very good drivers. Years ago I met Gerry Marshall (he was driving a Corvette I was working on) - he was a legend in England, must have done 600 races in his career, did not stop racing until his last day and a nice chap as well. Some of the cars he raced can be seen below If it had 4 wheels, he'd race it! Some more about him here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerry_Marshall T

The property owner yes, the Pacer's owner no. By the way, the Tatra T148 also stands out in the open...T

It's a fantastic looking car in any case - well done. The only thing I'd say about the ride height is there is no right or wrong - the Rally cars sat higher, the road course ones lower, it depends what the car is set up to do. By the way, you may find these interesting...
