Skoda itself is the Czech unit of Volkswagen. Its market share in China was 1.4 percent last year and, the company plans to more than double that figure by 2015, Vahland said.
"We want to increase our share in the Chinese market and one way to increase share is to increase our product range," Vahland told the China Daily.
Skoda sold 167,000 cars in China in the first 11 months of 2010, up 56 percent. The country will be the biggest market for Skoda in 2010, accounting for one-fifth of the brand's global sales, he added.
Skoda already produces passenger cars in China. It produced 131,779 cars in the country in 2009 and wanted to produce 500,000 cars in China in the future. [iD:nLDE6AH0SE]. (Reporting by Alison Leung; Editing by David Chance)
