  1. This merc needs a lot of work I hope to be good and post pictures of the work as I make progress This first set is of a section I let into the front inner wing bottoms there where about 5 sections like this in both sides Most of the work at this shop is on future classics. like this red one.
  2. I could tell your comment was in good spirit - no offence intended on my part. I am all for the usual Alfa jokes and comments. I guess the Alfa test has passed at least for the 101 and 105 series cars with prices soaring due to demand that comes from appreciation of these models. 116 are not far from turning the corner either. I am aware of the activities of the ''Kshishim'' and respect and admire what you do. I also like your logo and T-shirt. brilliant ideas. However the old 4x4 are not single marque if I am not mistaken, regardless of this fact it is still an excellent way to use and enjoy classic cars All the best to you in future activities Gadi

Exterior colour can also be specified by buyer. Interior is in good condition car has been parked up for last 8 years, has done very little on UK roads since arriving in UK from a dry State in the USA. Car is located in Leeds UK. If there is interest please contact me in a Private message Photos available A good opportunity to purchase a car before it is put on the market, and also to benefit from full input into the recomissioning process of the vehicle. These cars are rising in value as no more are being made, and more and more people are realizing what a lovely thing they are.
  4. Here we go again this stigma will never be shaken off I suppose then again there is nothing to compare this to as there are no other single marque clubs in IL that drive and use their cars as much as the Alfa people.

  6. Its great to see so many Alfa Romeo Cars out and about showing also that when properly looked after they are just as reliable as any other car + added fun value that only an Alfa can give! Keep enjoying and driving them!

  8. I had to perform a trivial task today - wheels off and car up on axle stands. nothing special. except the car was special. This DB3S was driven by some of the most famous racing drivers in the world during the mid 50's. Carol Shelby, Reg Parnell, Roy Salvadori just to name a few. It was driven on major tracks in Europe and America. As I hit those spinners with the Hide side of the mallet I couldn't help but thinking about all those mechanics taking wheels off this very car in pits and paddocks at Sebring, Goodwood, Lemans, and more. It was a simple job but a very special one for me. Of course this car received many changes over the years but somehow the aluminium ducting to the front brakes seems battered as it was in period.
  9. The core plugs in the L/H Head have corroded. I spotted this when the car came in for a 10K service. It also needed tyres. It has a strange tyre size and very few manufacturers make this size. It is now fitted with Michelin Pilots each tyre cost 395GBP + 20% Vat. That's an expensive tyre! Gadi
  10. Looks like everyone had a great day. Its nice to see the Alfas being used as they should be. No end of season in Israel! !all the cars are tucked away for winter in the UK at this time of year Its good to see Ehud Shahar in one of the pictures is he still working or has he retired? I bet he is still working on Alfas! Gadi
  11. A nice little job I enjoyed doing nearly a year ago. The Mechanism, was in a very poor state. The owner struggled to shift Gears. After a little bit of cleaning and replacement of worn parts it returned to work as it should. These old parts are so well made, that once cleaned and fitted correctly they work in such a purely brilliant way you cannot but admire the person/people who originally designed them! Especially so the reverse light switch it is built like a brick S***house! This RR participated in the London to Jerusalem in a few years ago

I heard this too. also affects many other Italian classics. It may not be an outright ban but could be extreme technical difficulty. Italian style
  13. 1. Yes 2. Royal mail has a list of items prohibited for postage paint is one of them also, perfumes, fireworks and many other products. 3. You are welcome to visit me at the garage anytime to see 3 DB5's all in correct Silver Birch (James bonds colour) and each one slightly different. the argument about what is correct silver birch is never ending and boring. Buy your colour in Israel. the key is to buy enough to have paint for rectification work 5-10 yrs down the line because its unlikely they will be able to mix the paint again for it to be an exact match to a trained eye. I have seen many cars having a full respray because colour match was impossible to achieve even with the most advanced paint analysing equipment. I have seen more cars looking like a zebra when a door needed some paint 5 yrs after initial paint was applied. Best of luck with your spraying!
  14. Very Nice! Thanks for the pictures Its always interesting to see collections in foreign countries. Sometimes very rare and obscure examples can be seen. Thanks Again! Gadi
  15. The jury is still out on that question. but for me on Friday after pulling it out from storage, part of the preparation for delivery included a 40 mile test drive. well it was good fun. Although its an Auto its still quick. the V12 sounds fantastic and illegal speeds are very easy to get to...the motoring press doesn't regard this car too highly and at my garage everyone seems to think its slow. well it isn't slow. and the interior isn't too horrible although a bit for in its feel. one thing though - there isn't a lot of room to move your left foot around and the BMW auto transmission transfers a lot of heat through the tunnel into the cabin. the seat isn't very comfortable either. The steering isn't very accurate and doesn't inspire confidence. There is a lot of scuttle shake. come to think about it its the engine and pace that impressed me more that anything else especialy when at 55mph I floored it and overtook two cars on a b- road to finish the manoeuvre at 110 mph . I found the brakes where pretty good too when a tractor pulled out in front of me soon after. I cant blame him really as I was in the horizon when he joined the road. Well not all days are like this so it makes a change
  16. Congratulations Israel, May you enjoy many many miles in that beautiful machine Best Regards Gadi
  17. You have hit the nail on the head! or in Hebrew ''Every word in the Rock'' I knew their must be some people who will agree! Mr. Jackobson (I am not sure how to spell your first name correctly in English is it the opposite of ''off''?) I must get myself an Israeli computer soon - I am not familiar with companies that deal in Triumph parts . My experience with Rimmers was a good 5 yrs ago and related to some Stag parts. If you are happy with Rimmers then that should be the shop for you. It looks like they helped the person who opened the thread get his parts shipped across to Israel so that's also a good point on their part.
  18. A new law has been passed in the UK - Holiday makers who plan to drive in the UK be aware that: From today the police are empowered to fine drivers on the spot if they drive in the middle lane of a motorway without being seen to pass a slower vehicle in the inside lane. The reason for this is that according to the authorities in the UK driving in the middle lane for no reason can cause other drivers unnecessary lane changes that can contribute to dangerous situations on the roads. I personaly drive on the inside lane of the motorway unless I am passing a slower vehicle, the majority of the UK drivers do the same. Middle lane driving (lane hogging) is common in Israel and the reason I am writing this is to make those planning to go to the UK for a holiday to be aware that they can be fined for driving in the middle lane not for passing purposes. More so it is a serious driving offense to pass a vehicle from the inside (akifa miyemin be-ivrit) and that too must be taken into account when driving in the UK
  19. Reuven its good to see you enjoying the car On a tour like you did the car gets to show you what it can do so well. looking forward to see the next bit Gadi
  20. I Agree Most models are in their purest form in their MK1 creation
  21. Hello Shahar, Hello to all those who buy parts from shops in the UK and request delivery to Israel As many of you know I live and work in the UK restoring Classic Cars Firstly I must say I am not a fan of Rimmer Bros. Yet their emails displayed above are polite and patient. All that has nothing to do with the following points I am about to make. When ordering a parcel larger than 2KG by weight it becomes UNECONOMICAL to send it by ROYAL MAIL AIRMAIL. It is usually also uneconomical to send it by any other form of shipping company ie UPS DHL etc. Once you request these shops to split your packages to smaller boxes They will either refuse or do so reluctantly as that their business model is not designed to deal with such requests . The result of this is bad PR for our nation and people. Believe me I get it from quite a few shops in this trade. They all have a story to tell about funny requests from Israelis regarding packaging, various requested documents (for proof of manufacture in EU), or multiple invoices to come under X amount each. It doesn't add much to our Tadmit, makes us look like scavengers Until the customs law changes and the Shipping prices come down a heavy or large parcel from the UK will be EXPENSIVE Now please I am not trying to educate anyone you can all do whatever you want. Best Regards Gadi
  22. Good Luck and have a great time!
  23. Yigal, nice job but I bet u can do better. in the final picture I can see pinholes. why not fill them up with a couple of mig touches? You know I am coming from a good place so please don't think otherwise All the best Gadi
  24. On Its Original Transporter
  25. I have been made aware that a collection of the British Magazine Thoroughbred & Classic Cars from the years 95-99 is positioned next to the recycling bin on Stern St. in Kiron It is next to house number 85, you can easily spot the blue recycling bin. most of the collection is behind the bin in cardboard boxes. there are some Auto and Turbo magazines there as well but not many. Another 20 magazines are inside the bin. This is not a joke, anyone interested in these magazines is welcome to pick them up sharpish before they recycle them and make outer panels modern cars out of them My apologies to the editors if this is information is not positioned in the correct sub-forum Enjoy Gadi Maltz
