APR Motorsport Signs Ryan Ellis to Partner Ian Baas in ST Championship Bid Auburn, AL: In the first of a coming series of driver announcements for APR Motorsport, VW Jetta TDi Cup standout Ryan Ellis will make his full-time debut in Grand-Am alongside veteran Ian Baas. The pair will pilot one of the team’s VW DriverGear GTIs. During pre-season testing, Ellis was able to draw on his experience in the VW Jetta TDi cup series and was immediately up to speed in the Grand-Am spec cars. APR Motorsport Director Jeff Mishtawy said “We could see from the first session’s data onward that Ryan has the ability, smoothness, and patience we need in our drivers to be serious contenders for a championship.” During the successful test Ryan provided solid technical and driving feedback, factors which are very important to the team. Mishtawy continued “Ryan integrated very well into the team’s method of communication and data evaluation. It was quickly apparent that he would make a fantastic fit into our ST program. Just like with Josh Hurley, the VW Jetta TDi Cup has grown and developed the talent necessary to compete in Grand-Am”. Mirroring the team’s feelings, Ryan is excited to be a part of the APR Motorsport VW DriverGear team in 2011. “I couldn’t be happier with the opportunity I have this year. I know that I have a great knowledgeable team with APR and a great teacher and co-driver with Ian. I think the 2011 season will provide a fantastic opportunity for me to prove myself as a driver and to learn a lot from Ian, the operations, and engineering of APR Motorsport. I could not ask for a better program to help launch my rookie year and career into Grand Am. I am especially excited to kick the season off at a venue as historic as Daytona.” For being a young rookie in Grand-Am, Ryan brings a wealth of experience having successfully raced everything from NASCAR late models to Spec Miatas, and even was twice crowned Virginia Red Bull Karting Champion. Already having been part of over 500 races in his 16 year driving career, the step up to APR’s ST program was logical. Entering his 4th year as a driver for APR Motorsport, Daytona Rolex 24hr Winner Ian Baas is also quite happy to be returning to a championship contending car. Baas remarked “ I am thrilled to have Ryan as my Co-Driver for 2011, we have met only a few times but Ryan’s maturity was very apparent. He has already shown his aptitude in the VW Mk6 GTI when we tested back in October and we will have more testing before the Daytona race in January where the APR Motorsport / VW DriverGear GTI will be looking to start the season how we ended the last…with a Win!” About the Mk6 GTI Ian was optimistic, “ I had spent 2010 developing the Mk6 GTI and the GS cars for the team so I am very glad to be fighting for a championship again. This new generation GTI is definitely worth all of the work we put into it last year. APR FUEL PUMP משאבת הדלק הטובה ביותר בעולם Here are a few points that I believe puts our design above our competition. Development with the HPFP starting soon after the 2.0T FSI hit the market. This was at the request of VWoA for use in their R-GTI. After bringing our product to the market, some of our competition simply halted their programs. We are the only HPFP manufacturer for the 2.0T FSI, besides the OEM distributor, Hitachi, who actually tests the fuel pump before shipping it out to our customers. This even applies to other non VAG HPFP markets using the hitachi design! We are the only HPFP manufacturer to use a full piston design rather than a stepped piston design, which lesses the chances for side loading and siezure. A couple of our competitors do not retain the OEM pivoting button on top of the fuel pump, which will increase the chances of side loading and stamping though the cam follower. We are the only aftermarket HPFP manufacturer that changes not only the piston and bore, but also all of the seals, washers, fastener, and the spring. The seals have been replaced to lessen any chance of leaking fuel. The spring has been replaces because the weight of the piston has changed. The Highest HP members on this board, and the fastest/quickest 1/4th members on this board use our pump. This includes our stage 3 customers, and the 'do it yourself' customers. Sever have switched to our design after having failures with our competition. To note on High HP applications. Members with the following turbos use our pump: k03, k04, gt28rs, gt2871, gt3071, gt3076, gt35. The highest application is well over 610 WHP! Volkswagen of America runs our fuel pump and has since 2006. Volkswagen of Germany runs our fuel pump on their Scirocco GT24 Race cars We are a TIER ONE Supplier of our HPFP to SEAT Sport in Europe for their motorsport teams The Three APR Motorsport vehicles have beat the crap out of our HPFP since day one of competition which started in december of 2007! They have never once changed the HPFP and the spare sits unopened in the trailer. Each and every pump is built in house at APR. The pump is tested before being rebuilt to ensure it's operating properly as to not replace a part on a car that's unneeded. The pump is then rebuilt, and retested again. The pump is broken in on our test pump machine and verified to ensure there are no problems with the pump before it ever touches a customers car. Finally after these numbers are recorded, the pump is serialized and shipped out to the customer. I can even point you to posts where a Diesel HPFP industry insider has indicated our testing procedure matches much of what goes on in their own operations. ---- Anyways, those are just a few reasons why you can put faith behind our design. Since it's built and tested by us, you have no reason to fear failure upon instillation. The 24 hours of Nürburgring is considered to be one of the most demanding endurance races in modern history and knowing that millions of dollars of preparation investment could hinge on the results of such a critical component, VWMS chose to GO APR. SEAT Sport APR has accomplished Tier-1 supplier status with SEAT Sport soley due to SEAT's needs for a quality High Pressure Fuel Pump solution. SEAT Sport operates several spec racing leagues throughout several different countries and chances are if you're driving a SEAT 2.0T FSI race car, you've got APR under the hood. VWGoA R-GTI Volkswagen Group of America's own R-GTI concept car has more than 430 horsepower and plenty of fueling thanks to an APR Stage III Turbocharger System and the APR High Pressure Fuel Pump. VWGoA relies on APR for the engine performance of their concept car development and this is a great testament to APR's status as the world's leader in VAG performance The APR fuel pump tester is a key element in the APR fuel pump production process. With the fuel pump tester we are able to perform several tests to ensure every pump is working to the high standards we have set for it. First the fuel pump tester allows us to perform the critical initial break-in of the new pump. By bringing the pump up to the full operating pressure, we can confirm that the seals in the pump are properly installed and not leaking. We are also able to verify operation of the fuel pump selenoid to ensure the fuel is being injected at the right time and in the right amount. Finally, a performance test is performed to make sure that the pump output is within specifications. This level of quality control ensures a lifetime of worry free miles with an APR FSI high pressure pump. To ensure flawless drivability the APR 2.0T FSI fuel pump requires APR engine management recalibration to allow for the increased size of the APR fuel pump. If you already have APR software installed this recalibration upgrade is free, otherwise it needs to be purchased separately.
