Hi, i imported an engine about a year ago. you cannot import the engine by yourself, unless you want massive hastle, just contact one of the many parts importers and they will give you the service, it will cost no more then 1000 shekels. you have to consider that the meches will be a pain and you will pay massive tax (duty) on the engine. allow me to give you my cost as a basis for comparison: engine cost in the UK 3100 usd shipping 470 usd duty (meches) 4300usd !! handling and amil meches another 450 usd so its very very expensive... now i paid some extra becouse the meches stated it was a brand new engine (which it was), but still very expensive. so think twice before you import! elad

Roy, my point was not to compare the two shows clearly New York area is much more important as a car market then all of israelX5! My point is that as a very local car show with very limited car buying public and very high costs of ownership (compare average cost of luxury/sport car in israel vs. the US) israel has nothing to be ashamed off. in fact, i am sure that there is a direct connection between the average cost of a car in a certain market (taxes included) and the level of car sophistication. my point is that if one is expected to pay 50,000 usd for a BMW 320i there cannot be too much excitment in a car show becouse it caters to a very restricted crowd. so my point is that after all israel has a good and fairly mature car market with a generally sophisticated car public, again this is not the swiss market or the french market but it is what it is: a high taxes restricted market. as a point of refferance, ever visited Denmark? they have as high taxes on cars as in israel but thier car selection on the raod is half as interesting. elad

the lower floor this time was dedicated to trucks!!! u know the american way. anyhwo thought that all that complain would find it at least somewhat comforting that the NY show sucks just as bad as the israel one.

just came back from the show... it was VERY dissappointing. to start off very few car makers showed anything interesting other then standard cars. no TVR, no lamorghini, no lotus, no ferrari enzo,, and more, just a shame! cost is 7$ for an adult so at least that not too bad. but this was nothing that looked or felt like a motor show, no classic cars no history no real demonstrators. so i knbow that you all complian about AutoMotor but you know what if this is what New-York can call a car show then Auto Motor is also a car show. elad

. 1. המרצדס (170 CBRIOLET) עדיין בארץ, אצל אותו טייס ששיפץ אותה. היתה עליה כתבה לפני מספר שנים ב"אבטומוביל" - העיתון של מועדון ה-5. 2. השמועה נכונה, והרכב (או בעצם השלדה שבקושי נשארה ממנו) נרכש לפני שנים כפרוייקט לשיפוץ ע"י איתן וורטהיימר עבור המוזיאון בתפן. כנראה שלא נגעו בגרוטאה מאז, והיא נמצאת במחסן ה-"לפני שיפוץ" שבתפן. למיטב ידיעתי מדובר באלפא-רומיאו 1750, דגם נדיר ויקר. interesting, i was told a while back when i asked about the alfa that it was sold to a collector from overseas and was taken outside israel for good. in general these cars arte worth about 150k-200k usd in perfect condition. so if the engine is original and the chassis is in good condition it is a valuable car. about eitan V. i cannot complain about aperson that has passion for cars in israel and spends money to maintain it. the problme is that the collection is very static and im affriad that some of the cars are getting to be in very poor condition. having said this it is clearly his money and collection and he can do whatever he wants. if he does hold the 1750 Zagato then its a great oppertunity to get a truley world class classic on the road in israel - by far the most 'world class' by all israeli classics around. romour has it that eitan has grown tired of the collection and is looking to sell some of the cars, i called the display manager for him and he said that he might but its now relevent now... so hold your breath!

my only suggestion is that next meeting should take place in day light hours... hopefully sometime in pesach. i will make sure taht my integrala and myself will be there the fulvia hf... mymymy nice one
